Red Monkey Tape by Kimathi Marshall

This weekend am spending some time in my hometown Embu and yesterday, as always, had to party with some of my peeps and familia. While in the party, I came across an old of friend of mine, a hiphop artist from my hometown but based in Nairobi. whose songs have been topping charts in some of the big radio stations in the country. Him and his buddy and also a comrade from Embu, Benady Inady, have brought in some fresh sound of hiphop but with still a feel of the old skul rhythm.  During our chat, I got to buy his latest mixtape, Red Monkey Tape, which consist of 12 dope tracks.

My favorite track in the tape is entitled Wakwa which is rapped in my Kiembu dialect but sounds extremely dope and the video is sick!.  Have a listen

This is definitely the tape to listen. Go to his SoundCloud page The Other1 and get to listen to the tape. I’ll be doing an interview pretty soon of the rapper, so yo better keep it here..

Am out
