The only constant thing in this world is change. Like a river flowing downstream, it cannot be stopped. However, it can be harnessed and profited from.

That the 3 media houses blacked out themselves from the digital platform is the best thing that can ever happen to Kenyans in 2015. They have inadvertently opened our eyes to the wide range of choices available, thanks to the global digital migration.

When MultiChoice set up shop in Kenya, over a decade ago, they charged subscribers even if they wanted to access FTA channels. Did media houses complain then? When the world agreed in 2006 to complete the digital migration by 2015, did the said media houses vigourously oppose the directive? Instead of focusing on the ifs, let’s discover what this self-imposed ‘oppression’ is teaching us.
